Settlers' Choice mixed hardwoods reclaimed wood flooring
Our Heirloom mixed hardwoods reclaimed barnwood floors are prized for their uncommon durability and variety of pronounced tones. Settler's Choice is what we call our reclaimed mixed hardwoods line of flooring.
This old growth wood reveals far greater growth ring density than today’s newly harvested woods which translated into grain patterns we just don't see anymore. Our Settler's Choice is a blend of hardwoods like Ash, Elm, Maple, and others--except for Oak; which feature tight knots, random nail holes, and surface checking which only underscore the historic character and its century-old age.
Many clients wish to only protect the floors we make with a clear poly or oil finish but as you can see from the photos, custom staining is also an option. With our in-house finish room we can create the perfect finish to match your vision.
Any version of this floor is a custom floor, so contact us to craft the perfect floor and finish for you.
Our Heirloom has a smooth face but retains the checks, cracks, nail holes and tight grain. This is the floor that often sees a custom tinted finish to further enhance the character of the grain. We restore the natural beauty of this material by gently re-milling the top surface to reveal its gorgeous grains, naturally opulent hues, and age-old charm while leaving the hallmark checking and historic defects intact. This classic reclaimed wood flooring offers unique character and smooth surface. And of course, like all of our floors, it's made by us, here in Orange County, CA.
