Vintage reclaimed flooring, reclaimed beams and accents crafted to the highest standards.
Antique materials, old-world craftsmanship.
The Vintage Wood Floor Company is not a retailer or an importer. We are a manufacturer. Which means we produce our own products; managing the entire process from reclamation to delivery. Everything we offer is created under the watchful eye of our owner and Head Craftsman, who proudly trains each craftsman on our team. While we offer many products, we have only one standard – excellence.
For us, every project entails five critical elements:
Create the “look” you envision with our unmatched inventory and direct access to the finest new woods, in-house finishing room, and completely vertically integrated operation where no step is done outside our walls
Considering the fact that vintage wood floors can have hundreds of different looks, it’s an engaging challenge. The type of wood, grade of lumber, method of sawing, length of planks, style of milling, and kind of finish will all produce different looks. That means taking the time to work closely with you, review samples, create samples based upon your vision and our vast abilities, and explain all options. Out of all the countless variations, this is how we find the one style that matches your vision.
Whenever we craft a floor, our waste factor is significant. This isn’t because we’re inefficient or we don’t care about conservation. It’s because our quality standards are in the stratosphere. Rest assured, if you order 1,500 square feet of flooring, we deliver 1,500 square feet of useable flooring, and then some. Every board we include is there because our lead craftsman or our company owner selected it. Many boards that other companies would sell never make it into our floors. As a result, we have a lower cutting allowance (the extra footage ordered due to waste). Simply stated: if we wouldn’t put it in our home, it’s not fit for your home. Don't think for a minute that that material goes in the landfill; we create other products such as our stacked barnwood wall panels so our final net waste is near zero
We craft products that will last another century or two
Creating products that endure is easy; all you need are obsessively high standards. Case in point: with our reclaimed wood, the process begins by carefully removing old nails and hardware. Then each piece of lumber is inspected for structural soundness. Boards are sorted based on the desired look, then air-dried and kiln-dried. After precision milling, each board is scrutinized again by our craftsman. Next comes hand sanding or machine-sanding. Then we apply a custom edge profile. If a custom surface treatment or other customized technique is needed, it’s applied at this stage. Finally, we painstakingly hand-rub finish into each board for our pre-finished floors. The work is longer and more tedious, but this is how timeless results are crafted.
We track history and provenance, control chain of custody, ensuring authenticity
Unlike big box retailers or importers, we control the entire chain of custody – from dismantling through delivery. We know where every board comes from and we can verify its authenticity. Whether it started as an Amish schoolhouse, ancient temple, vintage shipping crate, reclaimed wine cask, or turn-of-the-century barn, we know the exact origins of your reclaimed wood floor.
